Our Pillars (A.B.C.D.)

The CT Nurse Wellness Project is built on four guiding pillars:

Wellness

At the core of our work is wellness, recognizing that the health of nurses is critical to the health of the communities they serve. This pillar focuses on promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being, providing nurses with resources, strategies, and programs designed to prevent burnout, reduce stress, and foster resilience. From self-care practices to structured wellness initiatives, we support nurses in cultivating sustainable habits that enhance both personal and professional life.

Stress Management

Nursing is demanding, and the pressures of the profession can take a toll. Our Stress Management pillar equips nurses with practical tools, educational resources, and evidence-based strategies to navigate workplace challenges effectively. By helping nurses identify stressors, develop coping mechanisms, and implement actionable plans, we empower them to maintain balance, improve focus, and sustain long-term career satisfaction. Stress management is not just about surviving — it’s about thriving.

Emotional Intelligence

Strong emotional intelligence is essential for nurses to lead, communicate, and collaborate effectively. This pillar emphasizes the development of self-awareness, empathy, relationship management, and leadership skills. By strengthening emotional intelligence, nurses can enhance patient care, foster meaningful workplace connections, and build confidence in their ability to advocate for themselves and their teams. Through mentorship, training, and skill-building opportunities, we help nurses harness emotional intelligence as a key driver of personal and professional success.

Our Pillars (A.B.C.D.)

The CT Nurse Wellness Project is built on four guiding pillars:

  • A-Awareness

Bringing visibility to the valuable work of existing nurse wellness organizations and programs across Connecticut. By amplifying their efforts, we help ensure that nurses know about available resources, best practices, and community support opportunities, creating a stronger, more connected wellness network statewide.

  •

    B-Boldness

Empowering nurses to take bold, strategic action as change agents within their organizations and communities. By fostering confidence, leadership, and advocacy skills, we encourage nurses to drive meaningful change in workplace culture, patient care, and overall nurse wellness.

  •

    C-Collaboration

Building a strong community and coalition of nurses, organizations, and wellness advocates across Connecticut. By fostering collaboration and shared learning, we create opportunities for networking, support, and collective impact that strengthen nurse wellness statewide.

  • D-Development

Supporting the development of self and profession by providing nurses with tools, mentorship, and educational opportunities to enhance resilience, emotional intelligence, leadership, and innovative practice. This pillar empowers nurses to grow personally and professionally while driving creative solutions in healthcare.
